 Dr. Joseph Sciammarella has been on the national and international speaking circuit, presenting lectures at a series of seminars on AEDs in the School, at which Dr. Sciammarella and Karen and John Acompora, of the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation, have been the main speakers.

2003

In January, Dr. Sciammarella and Karen Acompora presented lectures on AEDs in the School at four locations across Massachusetts. The presentations were sponsored by Medtronic Physiocontrol.

He also lectured on the subject with John Acompora at the U.S. National Lacrosse Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.

In addition, Dr. Sciammarella and the Acomporas participated in the School AED seminar held in Florida by the National Center for Early Defibrillation.

In February, they spoke at seminars on School AEDs in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Toronto, Canada. These presentations were co-sponsored by Medtronic Physiocontrol, and Access Medical of Canada.

In March, they served as members of a select panel on AEDs in the School, held at Medtronic World Headquarters in Minnesota.

Also in March, Dr. Sciammarella presented the topic at the 63rd Annual Conference of the New York State Recreation and Park Society along with Karen Acompora.

In April, Dr. Sciammarella and the Acompora's spoke before the East Meadow, New York Chamber of Commerce.

In May of 2003, they spoke at the Florida Foundation for School Health in Sarasota, at the Annual Conference of the Public Employer Risk Management Association in Bolton Landing, New York, and at two locations in Ontario, Canada.

In June, they presented at the Annual Conference of the National Association of School Nurses in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In August, Dr. Sciammarella spoke at the Annual Meeting of the American Woman's Self Defense Association.

Finally, in November, Dr. Sciammarella and Karen Acompora spoke at a seminar entitled Creating Heart-Safe Schools in Meriden, Connecticut.

2004

In February of 2004, Dr. Sciammarella and Karen Acompora participated in a conference entitled Saving Lives with AEDs in Dallas, Texas. This conference was co-sponsored by the American Heart Association's Texas Affiliate, and Medtronic Physiocontrol.

Also in February, Dr. Sciammarella served as the Master of Ceremonies for the American Heart Associations Have a Heart awards ceremony.

In addition, Dr. Sciammarella was interviewed by radio station WBLI on the American Heart Association's Heart Month.

In June, Dr. Sciammarella and Karen Acompora flew to Medora, North Dakota and presented three lectures on "Automated External Defibrillation in the School" at the Annual Roughrider's School Health Conference. The conference, which was very well received, was attended by school personnel from throughout the state of North Dakota.
